Support for HR 2905

Dear Efforts members,
There is a bill in the House of representatives which would expand Medicare's home health benefit to include respiratory therapists. We would like you to write your representative and request their support. A copy of the bill, along with representatives who are already cosponsors, can be found here:
            http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c108:H.R.2905:
You may e-mail your representatives directly from this site:
            http://capwiz.com/aarc/issues/alert/?alertid=33020&type=CO

This gives you the option of sending your own letter, if you select the e-mail  option; you may cut and paste the following letter. Please, let us know at lwatson@hvc.rr.com if you have written and be sure to include your state. Please do not send it directly to the list . Daily results will be posted.
Cut and paste this letter, select the e-mail option and that's all you have to do! Personalize it if you can. That's up to you.:

I am a constituent with COPD/emphysema, and a member of EFFORTS www.emphysema.net, an international online/support advocacy group for people with COPD.

I am asking you to please support HR2905, which would allow the services of respiratory therapists to be recognized under Medicare's home health services benefit.  This recognition would give home health agencies the option of using respiratory therapists to deliver care to homebound patients with asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis and other forms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as well as those who are ventilator dependent.

As COPD/emphysema is now the nation's fourth leading cause of death and growing, this is a service that is sorely needed.

 Sincerely,

Your name
